STUEBENVILLE, Ohio - The Frostburg State men's soccer team pushed its winning streak to five games with a 3-0 shutout of AMCC opponent Franciscan in the first-ever meeting between the two schools, Saturday.
Its the fourth shutout during the winning streak for the Bobcats who push their record to 8-2 on the season and 2-0 in the AMCC. Both wins in conference action have also come via the shutout as FSU downed Pitt-Bradford last Saturday, 7-0.
Senior
Adam Gracia (Rockville, Md./Wootton) put the Bobcats on the board first with his team-leading seventh goal of the season. Gracia knocked home a loose ball off a corner kick that put FSU up 1-0.
Gracia added to his total with his second goal of the game just five minutes into the second half. After a foul in the box awarded Frostburg State a penalty kick, Gracia quickly gave FSU a 2-0 lead with his second PK goal of the season.
Junior
Ricky Marchant (Washington, D.C./St. John's College) scored the third and final goal of the afternoon for Frostburg State. Junior
Sean Jones (Pasadena, Md./Severna Park) headed a ball that Marchant ran through and slipped past Baron keeper William Herrmann.
Senior
Jay Herford (Crofton, Md./South River) earned his third shutout of the season after making five saves.
"I'm pleased with our second half effort," said head coach Keith Byrnes. "They worked hard to create chances for themselves and I'm glad to get the shutout on the road."
FSU is back in action next Saturday when it hosts Medaille on Homecoming at Bobcat Stadium at 7:00 pm.
