Men's Soccer Slips Past St. Vincent in OT

FROSTBURG, Md. - Sophomore Andres Vega (Potomac, Md./Wootton) scored the game-winning goal 6:04 into overtime to hand Frostburg State a 2-1 win over St. Vincent in men's soccer action, Tuesday evening.

Vega's goal gives FSU its fourth-straight win as the Bobcats improve to 7-2 overall. SVC slips to 3-5 overall with its first loss in its last four games.

Frostburg State held the momentum in the second half and overtime but failed to find the net until junior Sean Jones (Pasadena, Md./Severna Park) fed Vega with a long pass that he slipped past diving Bearcat keeper Jacob Gilbertson. The Bobcats held a 10-3 lead in shots in the second half and overtime.

Bobcat keeper Jay Herford (Crofton, Md./South River) made three saves in the win while allowing his first goal in four games. Gilbertson suffered the loss for the Bearcats allowing both goals in just 53:50.

FSU broke onto the scoreboard first with just 55 seconds left until halftime when junior Steven Jacobsen (Waldorf, Md./West Lake) knocked home a loose ball for his fourth goal of the season.

Luis Rodriguez tied the game just eight minutes into the second half on a penalty kick. The game remained tied unitl Vega's game winner in overtime.

FSU is back in action on Saturday, September 27 when it travels to Franciscan at 3:00 pm.
