The Bobcats (17-12, 13-4) scored early and often in game one as they posted five runs in the second inning and topped it with six runs in the fourth. Sophomore designated hitter Joe Garrity (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) led off the second with a double to open the flood gates as senior Joe Daddura (Fallston, Md./Calvert Hall) followed with an RBI single.

UPG (14-15, 9-8) starter Branden Munshower would struggle through the inning allowing four additional hits that would record RBI’s for junior Joe Clark (Crozet, Va./Western Albemarle), sophomore Jeff Kroboth (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) and senior Andrew Speights (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point).

In the fourth inning, Clark and Kroboth would lead off with back-to-back singles. Senior Allen Peake (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) then followed with an RBI double. Speights again came up big as he hit a two-run single to extend the lead to 8-0. Garrity would continue the onslaught with his second double of the game to score Speights. The final two runs of the inning would be provided as seniors Andrew Lydon (Southampton, N.J./Lenape) and John Micklus (La Plata, Md./McDonough) each delivered an RBI for the quick 11-0 lead.

FSU starter Foshay would take a one-hitter into the sixth inning when Pitt-Greensburg would strike for its only runs with a two-run homerun by Bill Brady. Foshay would finish the game allowing only the two runs on six hits, while recording five strikeouts in a complete game effort.

Garrity led all Bobcat hitters by going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Clark followed close behind with a 3-for-5 performance.

In game two, Conner kept the Pitt-Greensburg hitters guessing, while spacing only four hits in six innings. UPG again scored its only runs on a Bill Brady two-run homer in the seventh inning. The homerun would be the only slip for Conner as he pitched a complete game allowing only six hits and recording three strikeouts.

For Frostburg State, senior Brett Mitchell (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) provided the first run of the game in the third as his sacrifice fly scored Clark who led the inning off with a double. Speights would expand the lead to 3-0 as he closed the inning with a deep two-run homerun to right field.

In the fifth inning the Bobcats added two more runs to increase the lead to 5-0. Mitchell led the inning off with a single then stole second. Peake followed by hitting a dribbler to third base, which was bobbled by UPG to advance Mitchell to third. The first run of the inning would come as Mitchell crossed the plate on a wild pitch. Garrity drove in the second run as Peake scored on a sacrifice fly.

FSU added a run in each of the final two innings to setup the final 7-2 score. In the sixth, Clark squeezed home Lydon who had reached on a leadoff single. The final run would come on a solo homerun by Mitchell on the first pitch of the seventh inning.

Lydon led all hitters with a 3-for-3 performance, which was followed by Mitchell who went 2-for-3 in game two along with two RBIs and a run scored.

The Bobcats are back in action April 26 at St. Mary's at 12:00 pm for a doubleheader.
