Lacrosse Downed by Susquehanna 17-10

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Heather Linton scored five goals and Susquehanna recorded 54 shots as it downed Frostburg State 17-10, Wednesday.

The Bobcats (4-5) kept the game close over the first 15 minutes of the opening period and trailed by just two, 5-3, but the Crusaders (2-5) collected a four-goal run to open a 9-3 lead.

FSU netted two-straight goals to narrow the gap but Susquehanna added the final goal of the period with 1:20 left as the teams headed into the lockerroom with the hosts up 10-5.

Frostburg State scored five goals in the seccond half but was unable to string any together and the Crusaders broadened their lead to 17-10 at the final horn. The Bobcats were able to cut the deficit to 14-8 but back-to-back scores by Susquehanna pushed its lead to a game-high seven (16-8) with 6:24 to play. The teams exchanged goals over the next two minutes as time expired.

Junior Meredith Martin (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) led the Bobcats with four goals followed by senior Carly Rihard (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) with three goals and an assist.

Senior Lindsay Lamont (Sykesville, Md./Century) pushed her team-leading point total to 40 with two goals and an assist.

Junior Erin Morrell (Easton, Md./Easton) did her best to keep the Bobcats in the game, stopping a career-high 23 shots in the loss.

Mary Minuni and Kelly Coffey added three goals each for the Crusaders while keeper Kess Weiss made 10 saves while earning the win.

Frostburg State travels to Roanoke on Friday, April 4 for a game at 7:00 pm.
