FROSTBURG, Md. - Sophomore Brian Anderson (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Tech) had a nearly perfect night as he scored a career-high 25 points to help Frostburg State to a 85-62 win over Pitt-Greensburg in the AMCC opener for both teams, Wednesday.

FSU, which improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 with the victory, jumped out to a quick 12-2 lead and never looked back. FSU led by double-digits from the 14:19 mark in the first half including a game-high 23 points at the final buzzer.

Anderson was 9-of-11 from the field including a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc. He also added four rebounds and a pair of steals. Senior Juan Wansley (Odenton, Md./Arundel) added 14 points and sophomore Korawn Harris (Baltimore, Md./Edmondson Westside) scored 11 with a pair of three-pointers of his own.

As a team, Frostburg State finished 10-of-17 (58.8%) from three-point range and led 45-39 in rebounding. FSU also used a 28-9 edge in bench points in the win.

Pitt-Greensburg (0-5, 0-1) was led in scoring by Daniel Waajid who netted 22 points and a game-high 14 boards. Rashad Davison was second on the team with 10 points.

FSU hit five of the game's first six baskets on its way to 12-2 advantage under three minutes into action. Frostburg State continued the surge with a 11-4 run later in the half to take a 19-point lead (32-13) with 9:00 remaining. Pitt-Greensburg finally found its rhythm and closed out the final nine minutes of the first half with a 13-6 run to trail by 11 (45-34) at the break.

Waajid made the opening basket of the second half as he helped his team cut the deficit to single-digits (45-36) for the first time since early in the opening stanza. However, Frostburg State pushed its lead back to double figures and senior Keith Hazel (Weirton, W.Va./Weir) gave the hosts a 21-point lead (78-59) with just 4:46 left.

With the game in hand, FSU added an exclamation point to the evening when junior Brandon Gilliam (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers) flushed a two-handed dunk in front of the Frostburg State bench that erupted the gymnasium.

FSU returns to action on Saturday when it hosts AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend at 3:00 pm.
