FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State women's and men's soccer teams are still allive in the 2008 Eastern College Althetic Conference South Tournament and will compete in the semifinals, this weekend.
With its 1-0 win over Widener in the tournament's opening round, the women's soccer team (15-2-3) will host the semifinal and final rounds of the tournament on Saturday and Sunday. The No. 1 seed Bobcats will take on No. 4 seed Dickinson (13-3-3) at noon on Saturday after the Red Devils defeated Stevenson University (11-6-4), 2-1, to advance to the ECAC semifinals.
The women's other semi-final match will be played at 2:00 pm at Frostburg State when No. 2 Westminster (15-4-2) will take on No. 6 Swarthmore (10-4-4). The game winners of both semifinal matches will advance to the championship game to be played on Sunday (Nov. 16) at 1:00 pm in Frostburg, Md.
The Frostburg State men's soccer team defeated Washington & Jefferson with a score of 1-0 in the first round of the ECAC tournament, Wednesday evening. For the ECAC semifinals, FSU will travel to No. 1 King's College on Saturday, November 15 where it will play No. 3 Catholic (13-6) at a time to be announced. The Cardinals advanced to the ECAC semifinals after a 3-1 victory over Wesley (11-8-3).
Top seed and host King's College (14-1-5) will match up against Wilkes University, who was ranked fifth in the other semifinal competition. The winners of the semifinal games will compete in the ECAC championship game to be played at King's College on November 16.
