Men's Soccer Picks Up Conference Victory Over Pitt-Greensburg

FROSTBURG, Md.- Two first half goals propelled the Frostburg State men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg, Tuesday at Bobcat Stadium.

Freshman Jason King (Herndon, Va./Herndon) put the Bobcats (9-3, 3-1) on the board early as he struck for his first career goal just 4:36 into the contest. Junior Steven Jacobsen (Waldorf, Md./West Lake) recorded his second assist this season on the King goal.

FSU senior goal leader Adam Gracia (Rockville, Md./Thomas Wootton) buried the game winning goal on a penalty kick after being taken down from behind on a breakaway just three minutes before the break. The score keeps Gracia at a perfect 3 for 3 on penalty kicks this season and gives him nine goals for the year.

UPG (3-8, 0-4) was held quiet by the Bobcat defense until Nick Wayno was able to find the net with just minutes remaining in the game. The high powered FSU offense outshot Pitt-Greensburg 22-9, but was held in check by UPG goaltenders CJ Stangl and Brian Daniel who recorded four and five saves respectively.

Frostburg State senior keeper Jay Herford (Crofton, Md./South River) managed five saves on the evening.

FSU is back in action on the road Saturday, October 11 when it travels to AMCC opponent Hilbert at 3:00 pm.
