FROSTBURG, Md. - Juniors
Adam Gracia (Rockville, Md./Thomas Wootton) and
Gregg Laskow (Plainsboro, N.J./WWP-North) each netted a pair of goals and an assist as Frostburg State routed Waynesburg, 6-1, Tuesday night at Bobcat Stadium.
Laskow now leads the Bobcats (3-2) with five goals and he has scored in four out of the five games this fall.
Senior
Alex Wilkinson (La Vale, Md./Bishop Walsh) scored his first goal of the season at 25:56 off the foot of Gracia, giving FSU the 1-0 lead.
Laskow then netted back-to-back tallies in the 30th and 39th minutes to break open the game. His second goal was assisted by freshman
Mike Pistorio (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical).
Gracia, who scored his first and second goals of his collegiate career, netted back-to-back shots as well to give Frostburg State a 5-0 lead heading into halftime. His first goal came off a feed from Laskow at 42:41 while he slammed his second past the keeper off a rebound with just one second left in the half.
The Bobcats outshot the Yellow Jackets 17-3 in the opening period and 27-5 for the game.
In the second, WC scored its only goal in the 78th minute when Scott Garet scored off a past from JC Danhires.
Pistorio scored his first goal as a Bobcat at 77:48 to end the game's scoring.
Junior
Jay Herford (Crofton, Md./South River) and freshman
Dante Dozier (Greenbelt, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) split time in the net for FSU. Herford played the first half, making one save, while Dozier played the second. Brad Davis got the nod in net for Waynesburg allowing all six goals and making 10 saves.
"I was pleased with our level of play in the first half and it was probably the best 45 minutes we played all year," said head coach Keith Byrnes. "We capitalized on the opportunities we created and we did a good job of holding our shape defensively and limiting their chances."
The Bobcats return to the field on Saturday when they travel to Shenandoah at 2:00 pm.
