Rohrs Leads Track and Field at WVU Holiday Classic

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Junior Sumer Rohrs (Frostburg, Md./Forest) had another big day for Frostburg State as both the men and women posted solid results at the annual Holiday Classic, Saturday at West Virginia University.

Rohrs won two events and finished second in another but qualified for the ECAC's in all three events. In the 60-meter dash she captured the victory with a 7.85, just 0.01 off the NCAA Championship qualifying time. Rohrs also collected a win in the 200-meter dash (26.31) and a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (9.04).

Senior Jessica Clingan (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) also had a solid meet winning the 400-meter dash (1:02.35) and taking sixth in the 60-meter dash (8.24), the 200-meter dash (27.41) and the 60-meter hurdles (11.01).

In just her second meet as a Bobcat, freshman Emily Furr (Damascus, Md./Poolesville) finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 10.38 meters. She also finished sixth in the high jump (1.52 meters) and seventh in the long jump (4.75 meters).

Sophomore Kendal Moss (Hagerstown, Md./Williamsport) was sixth in the pole vault (2.60 meters) and classmate Jessica Dabulskis (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) was fourth in the long jump (4.81 meters) to round out the women's events.

Sophomore Steve Flanagan (Cumberland, Md./Fort Hill) and freshman Robert Hoffmaster (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) captured the highest individual results for the Bobcat men. Flanagan was runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles (9.27) and Hoffmaster was second in the 500-meter dash (1:15.00).

Junior Arien Heggs (Arlington, Va./Wakefield) was third in the 60-meter dash (7.17) and freshman Tarik Muhammad (Pittsville, Md./Riverside) was third in the 400-meter dash (53.54). Freshman Emmanuel Manful (Alexandria, Va./Oneida Baptist) finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.55.

The team of sophomore Dan Bloch (Baltimore, Md./Dundalk), Muhammad, Hoffmaster and Flanagan finished second in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:45.02.

The Bobcats are off over the Holiday break and will return to action on January 25 at the Bison Open in Lewsiburg, Pa.
