Field Hockey Loses to Lynchburg, 4-1

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Frostburg State grabbed an early 1-0 lead but Lynchburg tallied four unanswered goals in field hockey action for a 4-1 win, Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, FSU's three-game winning streak ends and the Bobcats currently sit at 5-4 overall on the season while LC improves to 11-4.

Junior Michelle Frost (Jessup, Md./Hammond) gave the Bobcats their only point of the game with her second goal of the season at 3:19 in the first half. Freshman Breanne Russell (Clements, Md./Chopticon) was given credit for an assist.

From that point on, the game would be controlled by the Hornets. Allie Weir and Jenny Weir scored first half goals as LC led 2-1 at the half.

Jenny Weir opened the second with her second goal of the contest as Lynchburg moved ahead 3-0 and Samantha Howard capped the game with a goal in the 46th minute.

Senior Amanda Runion (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) made 14 saves in the loss while Sarah Cates made three stops in net for Lynchburg.

FSU is back in action on Monday, October 8 when it travels to the College of Notre Dame at 4:00 pm.
