YORK, Pa. - The Frostburg State women's field hockey team earned its tenth win of the season with a decisive 4-1 victory over York College, Thursday evening. Sophomore
Kelly Filipowicz (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) scored two goals in the game to move into a tie for the team lead in goals at 14.
The Spartans (6-14) struck first when April McFarland found the back of the goal just 5:11 into the game. That would be the final threat that York would put together.
The Bobcats (10-5) responded at the 11:46 mark when junior
Michelle Frost (Jessup, Md./Hammond) scored off a freshman
Brooke Tapman (Salisbury, Md./Pocomoke) assist.
FSU's offense dominated possession for much of the half as Filipowicz would add her first goal with 10 minutes remaining in the first half on a break away from the right side.
The second half was the same story as the Bobcats controlled the ball throughout the period. Senior
Brittney Blystone (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) added her sixth goal of the season at the 43:58 mark followed 12 minutes later by Filipowicz's second score of the game.
Frostburg State outshot York 24-12 in the game.
