WASHINGTON, Pa. — Amanda Howard scored off a penalty corner with no time left on the clock to give Washington and Jefferson a 2-1 win over Frostburg State, Wednesday evening.
FSU falls to 0-3 on the season while W&J improved to 2-1.
Howard tipped home the game winner after the Presidents were awarded a penalty corner with 17 seconds left in the game. After the ball was passed around in front of the net, Bobcat goalie Amanda Runion (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) made a save before the game winner was tipped over her head.
W&J opened the scoring midway through the first half with a goal by Beth Kelley. Junior Michelle Frost (Jessup, Md./Hammond) tied the game for FSU with a goal 17 minutes left in the second half.
Despite the loss, Frostburg State outshot Washington and Jefferson 17-9.
FSU returns to action on Saturday, September 9 when it travels to Montclair State at 2:30 pm.
