BETHANY, W.Va. — The Frostburg State women’s tennis team earned its third-straight Saturday, with a 9-0 shutout of Bethany. The win marks the second of the season for the Bobcats over the Bison.
FSU evened its season record to 7-7 overall while Bethany falls to 0-8.
All six of the Bobcat players collected wins in both singles and doubles action.
Junior Heather Potosnak (Easton, Md./Montville Township (NJ)) teamed with freshman Caroline Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) to win No. 1 doubles 8-1, over Ashley Current and Kathleen Thompson. At No 2 doubles, juniors Jenn Tolbert (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) and Sarah Eisel (Frostburg, Md./Beall) defeated Katie Erdy and Kati DeMundo, 8-5.
Rounding the doubles matches, juniors Amy Brenneman (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett) and Kimberly Hardy (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's) were victorious at the third spot, downing Jen Hubbell and Elise Gardner, 8-1.
In singles, Potosnak led the charge with a win in the top position 6-0, 6-1 over Current while Eisel won No. 2 over Thompson, 6-0, 6-0.
Tolbert won No. 3 singles, with a 6-3, 6-0 defeat of DeMundo while Shedd won No. 4 over Erdy, 6-1, 6-0. Rounding the final two positions; Brenneman defeated Gardner at No. 5 6-3, 6-2 and Hardy downed Hubbell in the sixth spot by scores of 6-0, 7-5.
Frostburg State travels to NCAA Division II Fairmont State on Wednesday, October 4 for a 4:00 pm match.
