Women's Lacrosse Falls to Goucher

FROSTBURG, MD — Freshman Emily Blatter scored six goals in Goucher’s 23-13 win over Frostburg State in women’s lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Field.

The Bobcats (4-6) took an early 2-0 lead with goals 38 seconds apart from freshman Maria Schrum (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and junior Stefanie Ritz (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright).

The Gophers (5-6) came back and scored three goals to take the lead. Senior Page Macey (Linthicum, Md./North County) tied the score at four apiece at 21:29. Junior Erin Young (Newark, Del./Glasgow) scored her first goal this season to make the score 13-8 in favor of Goucher at the break.

In the second half, junior Kelley Duncan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) scored an unassisted goal at 24:45 to come within 15-9. Goucher came back to score twice. The Bobcats never came closer than seven points before the Gophers scored the last three goals to end the game.

Duncan lead the Bobcats with four goals and two assists. Sophomore goalie Rachael Lewis (Laurel, Md./Wilde Lake) had 18 saves in the loss.

The Bobcats return to action Sunday as they host Virginia Wesleyan at 1:00 pm.
