FROSTBURG, Md. — Senior
Wyatt Sagers (La Plata, Md./La Plata) scored his second goal of the season to lift the Frostburg State men’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Lake Erie Saturday afternoon on senior day at Bobcat Field.
The Bobcats improved to 7-9 overall and 5-3 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference while the Storm fell to 8-6-2 overall and 6-2 in the league.
FSU held the early momentum forcing Lake Erie goalkeeper Raymond Liptay to make four saves in the opening 15 minutes. The Bobcats found the net at 31:06 when Sagers netted a goal off a feed from sophomore Gregg Laskow (Plainsboro, N.J./WWP-North (Rider)). At the half, FSU led 1-0.
Lake Erie’s first shot of the contest came just over seven minutes into the second half. LEC had its best chance at 82:07 when senior Bobcat keeper Derek Richardson (New Market, Md./Linganore) made a diving save to stop a Justin Daly header. Richardson would preserve the win making his final save with 39 seconds left on a shot by Brent Bleasedell.
The Bobcats return to action tomorrow when they host Hilbert at 3:00 pm
