FROSTBURG, MD — Frostburg State scored three second-half goals and shutout visiting Bridgewater College 3-0 Tuesday afternoon to extend its winning streak to three matches.
The Bobcats opened the scoring in the 50th minute when freshman Brittany Russell (Warren Hills/Washington, N.J.) scored off a penalty corner assist from junior Heidi Zook (Twin Valley/Elverson, Pa.).
Fellow freshman Brittney Blystone (Governor Mifflin/Mohnton, Pa.) then scored her first career goal just over a minute later to give FSU a 2-0 lead.
Junior Tawni Buck (Perryville/Port Deposit, Md.) scored her team-leading ninth goal of the year in the 62nd minute off an assist from junior Kim Smith (Thomas Johnson/Frederick, Md.).
Junior goalie Kristin Cousin (South River/Edgewater, Md.) made two saves to earn her fourth win on the season.
Frostburg State returns to action Thursday when it hosts Villa Julie at 4:00 p.m.
