LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After an impressive junior year campaign, Frostburg State's Hannah Tavik was recognized as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American, as announced by the league Wednesday at the NCAA Division III Championship Awards banquet held in Salem, Va.
Tavik was selected to the All-American Third Team as a utility player, making her the second All-American in program history after Taylor Vandegrift was honored in 2013. Tavik was one of 45 players chosen for the All-American teams and is just one of three utility players honored.
The Glen Burnie, Md. native was recently recognized as an NFCA First Team All-Region honoree and an All-Capital Athletic Conference Second Team selection after an impressive season. Tavik not only topped the charts at the plate for the Bobcats, but also excelled as one FSU's top pitchers.
As a hitter, Tavik finished the year first on the roster in batting average (.444), slugging percentage (.674), RBI (49), hits (64) and runs (31). In the conference, she ended the season first in total hits, while finishing fourth in batting average and fifth in RBI.
She ranked 14th in all of Division III in sacrifice flies (4), 25th in RBI and 53rd in RBI per game (1.11).
In the circle, Tavik finished with a 13-2 overall record, pitching 90.0 innings with a 2.88 ERA. She finished fourth in the CAC and topped the Bobcat roster with 86 strikeouts. She also threw three shutouts and allowed only 37 earned runs.
Overall, FSU finished the season with a 28-16 record and a 9-5 in the CAC.
