Baseball Earns At-Large Bid To NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA announced its 56-team field for the 2016 Baseball Championship and the 23rd-ranked Frostburg State Bobcats received an at-large bid and will travel to Auburn, N.Y. for the New York Regional.
 
Frostburg will face Susquehanna in the opening round of the six-team regional on Wednesday.
 
The Bobcats are the No. 3 seed in the regional after finishing the regular season with a 30-12 overall record. FSU captured the Capital Athletic Conference regular-season crown and has been ranked in every D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 weekly poll this spring.
 
Susquehanna captured the Landmark Conference Championship on Saturday and is the region's No. 4 seed. The Crusaders are 29-14 overall.
 
Cortland is the region's host and top seed. Ramapo is the second seed, Union (N.Y.) is seeded fifth, while Castleton is sixth.
 
Coach Guy Robertson's club is no stranger to both Cortland and Ramapo as the Bobcats faced both schools in last year's NCAA World Series. FSU handed Ramapo both of its losses at last year's championship before being eliminated by Cortland. The Red Dragons went on the win their first World Series.
 
More information regarding this year's tournament, including live video and live stats will be available prior to Frostburg's matchup with Susquehanna.

The regional tournament will be held at Leo Pinckney Field at Falcon Park.
