Women's Basketball Wins Fourth-Straight; Defeats La Roche

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Junior Lisa Byer (Johnstown, Pa./Conemaugh (Allegany College)) netted seven three-pointers while posting 23 total points as the Frostburg State women's basketball team defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent La Roche, 57-52, to win its fourth-straight game, Wednesday evening.

Byer's seven three-pointers ties for first in FSU's single-game individual record for three-pointers made. Holly Myers was the only other Bobcat to score seven three-pointers against Pitt-Greensburg (1/9/02).

Seniors Brittany James (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) and Caryn Wright (Baltimore, Md./Western Tech) each scored 10 points in the win for Frostburg State (15-5, 12-3). Wright also pulled down eight rebounds while Byer posted six.

Cheronda Ransaw and Chantelle Jennings led the scoring for LAR (11-10, 9-7) with 14 points each while Chloe Stewart followed with 13. Ransaw recorded a game-high 15 rebounds in the loss for the Redhawks and Ashley Heakins had 10.

Frostburg State is back in action at home in Bobcat Arena Saturday, February 6 against AMCC D'Youville for a 1:00 pm contest.
