MARIETTA, Ohio – For the second day in a row, senior Sumer Rohrs (Frostburg, Md./Forest) set a new stadium record, this time in the 100-meter hurdles while fellow senior Brian Leiter (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) earned a spot in the finals of the 800-meter run on the second day of the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Friday afternoon.

Rohrs, who set the Don Drumm Stadium record in the 400-meter hurdle trials yesterday afternoon, held the record in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.41 heading into the trials earlier today. Kristen Bates of Messiah ran a 14.14 in the first heat of the 100 hurdle trials to set the stadium record, but Rohrs came through a few moments later in heat three to recapture the mark with a 14.04 for the fastest overall time in the eight member final set for Saturday at 1:55 pm.

Rohrs, who enters the championships tied for second all-time in FSU history with four national titles, needs just one more national title to tie the school mark and is in position to do just that as she holds the top times in both the 100 and 400-meter hurdles. The 400-meter hurdle finals are set for Saturday at 3:25 pm.

Leiter earned a spot in the finals of the 800-meter run after running the third fastest time overall with a 1:50.79. He will try for his second-consecutive All-American honor in the event that is set for Saturday at 2:50 pm. Leiter will also try for All-American status in the 1,500-meter run set for tomorrow at 1:20 pm.

Sophomore Emily Furr (Damascus, Md./Poolesville) will begin her first NCAA Outdoor Championship on Saturday morning when she competes in the first of her two events; the women’s triple jump at 11:30 am followed by the women’s high jump at 2:30 pm.
