Josh Hutchens

Josh Hutchens enters his second season at the helm of the Men's Wrestling program in the 2024-25 season. 

In his first year, Hutchens guided Frostburg to a 14-13 overall record and a 4-2 MEC record, finishing fourth out of seven teams in the conference tournament.  The Bobcats placed sixth in the region out of 11 teams, with Thierno Diallo, Duncan Kammar, Nick McCarthy, and Gavin Bage all placing.  Diallo and Bage went on to represent FSU in the NCAA National Tournament, with Diallo placing eighth in the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament, receiving All-American honors to round out the season. 

With a vast amount of coaching experience, most recently a seven-year stint as the head coach at Division II Ashland University, Hutchens' led the team to a record of 58-38 and had three NCAA Division II individual national champions. Ashland also finished as high as fifth place at the NCAA Division II Championships.

Along with the success Hutchens' programs saw on the mats, his athletes have also succeeded in the classroom. Overall, he has coached 51 NWCA Scholar All-Americans and a CoSIDA Academic All-American. During his tenure, Hutchens has had over 100 Academic All-Conference selections.

Prior to Ashland, Hutchens coached at Division II Colorado School of Mines and Division I James Madison. As a student-athlete, he was a standout wrestler at Purdue, having been an NCAA Division I Qualifier and placing third at the Big Ten Championships.
