Jeff Horton

Jeff Horton is entering his first season as head coach of the Women's Rugby program.  Horton will be the first head coach of this new program at Frostburg State as Women's Rugby is one of the three new sports added to the Athletic Department. 

Prior to Frostburg, Horton served as the head coach of the Women's Rugby team at Guilford College, Greensboro, NC.  Horton was named the coach in November of 2022 while he recruited nine athletes from six states within six months.  

Prior to his time at Guilford, Horton served as the head coach of Women's Rugby at Youngstown State University, Youngstown, OH from 2017-2018.  He was able to recruit 10 athletes from four states in his first year as well as negotiate partnerships with Adidas and World Rugby Shop.

Horton also served as the Director of Rugby for the U24 Ohio Rugby Selects, Ohio from 2016-2018 where they were named Midwestern Rugby Football Union LAU Champions in 2016.  He also served as the Director of Rugby at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio from 2015-2017 where he advanced Men's Rugby from DII to DI-AA. 

In 2016-2017, he served as the Assistant Women's Rugby Coach for the U24 Ohio Rugby Selects, USA where they were Can-Am Champions in 2016 and Donnybrook Champions in 2017.  Also during 2016-2017, Horton served as the assistant manager for the USA Rugby Women's National Team.  

From 2009-2017, Horton served as the head coach of the Women's Rugby team for Kent State University where he led his team to three Sweet 16 appearances and one Elite 8 appearance, and coached them to win the Conference Championship in 2009, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
