Jeff Splinter is in his sixth season as the Frostburg State head tennis coach in 2023-24.
The 2022-23 season marked a breakthrough campaign for the tennis programs, with the women's team reaching double-digit victories for the first time since the 2009-10 season. Sophomore standouts Lorena Pintar and Julia Ramos both earned Second Team All-MEC honors for their seasons, becoming the first women to become All-MEC players for the program. Â
While the men's team did not have quite the team success the women enjoyed, the freshman pairing of Cole Alcala and German Diaz were a force at both singles and doubles, including the former receiving a Second Team All-MEC selection. The two ended the season ranked as the #5 doubles team in the Atlantic Region.Â
In his fourth season, Splinter led the teams to a combined seven wins on the season. He coached Junior Origen Grear to the first ever Mountain East Conference Player of the Week honor along with Men's Tennis All-MECÂ Second Team honors for the second year in a row. Both men's and women's teams received the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Community Service Award.Â
In his third season as head coach, Splinter led the Bobcat teams to a combined three wins on the season. Splinter coached sophomore Origen Grear to earn All-MEC Second Team honors.Â

In his second season at the helm, Splinter led the Bobcat teams to a combined four wins before the season was cut short. In their final match of the spring, the women posted a dominating 6-1 win over Hood College in Frostburg, while the men shutout the Blazers 7-0 for their lone win of the year. Allison Paul was honored by the MEC as Frostburg’s Spring Senior Career Achievement Award recipient.

In his first season as head coach, Splinter led the women’s program to their first victory over CAC opponent St. Mary’s (Md.) since joining the conference in 2010-11. He led both the men’s and women’s program to the CAC Tournament for the first time since 2013.

Splinter spent two years at Frostburg as a graduate assistant for the Bobcats. He aided in all facets of the program over his first two years and handled all administrative duties for the tennis programs including practice and match planning, scheduling, travel and recruiting.

In his two years in Frostburg, Splinter helped revitalize both the men's and women's programs. In 2016-17, the Bobcat men's team doubled its win total from the previous season. The women's team more than tripled its win total from 2015-16. Both teams improved in every major statistical category and won a combined 11 matches, the second-highest total since Frostburg joined the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC).

In Splinter's second season with the program, both teams were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as All-Academic teams with five women's players and three men's players lauded as ITA Scholar-Athletes. The Bobcat tennis teams combined for nine wins in 2017-18.

The women's team collected a CAC win over Penn State Harrisburg for the second straight season and were led by junior Jenna Lipinski, who posted a 7-6 singles record and a 3-3 mark in conference play.

The men's team made program history with several individual milestones against conference opponents. First-year Geoffrey Goldring became the first singles player to record a win against perennial CAC contender Mary Washington at No. 5 singles, and the duo of juniors Shasta Braithwaite and Nolan Jones earned the first No. 1 doubles victory of Salisbury since joining the CAC.

Before his time in Frostburg, Splinter spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Millikin University. He served as the recruiting coordinator for The Big Blue in addition to creating daily practice plans and developing strength and conditioning programs for the teams. Millikin men's tennis posted a 26-17 record and the women's squad went 21-12 in his two years in Decatur, Illinois.

He also had a one-year stay as an assistant tennis coach and intern at The College of New Jersey where both the men's and women's tennis teams reached the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Splinter was a team assistant for Judson University from 2013-14 and has served as the head of the tennis department for Camp Walden since 2012.

Splinter played two years of tennis and earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education from Judson University in 2014. He's is currently pursuing his masters degree educational leadership from Frostburg
