Summer Fowler joined the Frostburg State women’s lacrosse program as an assistant coach in the summer of 2020 and run the defense and work with the goalkeepers.
Fowler comes to Frostburg after coaching lacrosse at both the collegiate and club level over the last several years.
Most recently, Fowler served as the head coach for the True Lacrosse club team in St. Paul, Minnesota. During that same time, she also served as the defensive coordinator and goalie coach for Concordia University in St. Paul.
Concordia finished the 2020 season ranked 16th and 25th in the Nike and IWLCA National Polls, respectively. She helped Concordia’s starting goalkeeper rank second in the nation in ground balls and 10th in save percentage. As a team, the Golden Bears ranked sixth in the nation in caused turnovers, ninth in ground balls and 16th in scoring defense.
Prior to Concordia, Fowler was an assistant coach at Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C. in 2017-18 helping the Quakers to six wins. From 2013-18, Fowler was the head coach of the NC Elite Lacrosse club in Greensboro
Prior to coaching at Guilford, Fowler was a standout, four-year defensive player for the Quaker lacrosse team. She was a two-time First Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) selection, a three-time All-ODAC honoree and was voted team captain three times.
In her first season at Guilford, she helped the team to the 2013 ODAC regular-season championship, while in ’14, the Quakers made their first-ever ODAC Tournament Championship appearance. A three-time IWLCA Academic Honor Squad honoree, Fowler led the league in caused turnovers as a junior and shares the school record with seven caused turnovers in a game.
She earned her bachelors degree from Guilford in criminal justice and sociology and she is currently working on her masters degree through Concordia in leadership and management.
