Katlyn Russo was named as Frostburg State’s women’s lacrosse graduate assistant coach, as announced by FSU Head Coach Hayley Engster and Director of Athletics Troy Dell.
Russo comes to Frostburg from Randolph-Macon College, where she two-time captain and a four-year player on the Yellow Jacket women’s lacrosse team. Russo was named All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Third Team her freshman year and All-ODAC Second Team her sophomore year.
During the summer of 2014, she served as the lacrosse assistant director at Camp Canadensis where she supervised the lacrosse program and instructed prospective adolescents about the sport.
The following summer, Russo served as the lacrosse director at the Keystone Kids Early Learning Center. There she directed the lacrosse, basketball, football, and soccer camps through daily lesson planning.
Off the field, Russo earned the ODAC Sportsmanship Team Honor her junior year, and was named to the ODAC All-Academic Tea. Russo also served as the women’s lacrosse representative for RMC’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee and assisted in composing a diversity inclusion video on campus.
From the fall of 2012, Russo participated in Relay For Life and helped raise funds and awareness, as well as organized fundraising events on campus to get the community involved.
Russo graduated from Randolph-Macon in May 2016 with her bachelor’s degree in communication studies and a minor in psychology. She will be pursuing her master’s degree while at Frostburg.
