Claudio Dias

Claudio Dias enters his second year with the Frostburg State University men’s soccer program in the fall of 2010.

In his first year with the squad, Dias helped FSU to a 12-9-1 overall record, including seven-straight wins to close out the regular season. The Bobcats finished second in their final season in the AMCC in both goals and shots per game and placed four players on the All-AMCC teams.

Dias is a graduate of Plattsburgh State University where he received a degree in computer science with a minor in mathematics in 2007. Dias was a four-year starter for the Cardinal soccer team earning Dean’s List and SUNYAC All-Academic honors each year.

As a senior, Dias was named team captain and earned All-American, First Team All-Northeast Region and First Team All-SUNYAC honors. In the spring of 2007, Dias was a first round draft pick of the Montreal Impact of the United Soccer League (USL). In 2008, Dias was offered a professional contract to Groupo Desportivo da Lagoa (2nd Division B Portugal) and had a two-week trial with Portimonense Sporting Clube (2nd Division Portugal).

Despite graduating in just 2007, Dias brings a wealth of coaching experience to FSU. In 2007-08, he served as an assistant coach for the SL Benfica Soccer Academy of Toronto, helping with practice plans and developing soccer skills in boys 8-16.

That same year, he served as the head coach of the Brampton Boavista Football Club in Brampton, Ontario. His responsibilities included budget, recruitment of sponsors for the club, organizing practice along with team and player management.

From 2008-09, Dias had been the head coach of the U-14 Girls Plattsburgh Football Club and served as an assistant coach for Plattsburgh. While with the Cardinals as an assistant, Dias was involved with recruiting, planning and running practice sessions, video editing and academic advising.
