Frostburg State University head football coach DeLane Fitzgerald announced in late summer that Sam Daniels will be the team’s defensive line coach for the 2014 season.
Daniels comes to FSU after coaching at the Apprentice School in Newport News, Va. for the last two seasons. In 2013, Daniels served as the defensive coordinator, defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. The Builders registered 12 sacks, recovered 10 fumbles and picked off seven passes.
In 2012, Daniels served as the defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator for Apprentice. The Builders posted 14 sacks, recovered 15 fumbles and intercepted eight passes.
Daniels was a two-time All-American and four-year member of the James Madison University football team. In his final two years, Daniels was a two-time Team Captain, two-time All-CAA defensive line honoree and two-time All-American. Over his final two seasons, he finished with 108 tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss with 10.5 sacks. As a senior, he was the Dukes’ Defensive MVP and Lineman of the Year.
