Kenny Johnson is in his third year with the Frostburg State University football program in 2016 and has been elevated to the program’s recruiting coordinator. Over his previous two seasons, Johnson has worked with the Bobcat wide receivers and he will coach the defensive ends this fall.

Last season, the Bobcats made huge strides under Johnson’s tutelage as the group hauled in 135 catches for 1,545 yards and 13 touchdowns.  Wide receivers accounted for 12 of the group’s 13 touchdowns, while Frostburg’s top three wide receivers accounted for 99 receptions for 1,194 yards.

In 2014, Johnson helped the Bobcat receivers to 82 receptions for 1044 yards and six touchdowns. The receiving corps accounted for over 80 percent of the team’s receptions and yards and seven different receivers hauled in a pass last season.

Johnson coached the defensive line at Randallstown High School from 2012-13 and also served as the sports conditioning coach. He implemented defensive schemes and organized strength workouts for the players.

Prior to coaching, Johnson was a four-year member of the Lincoln University (Pa.) football program from 2009-12. Johnson was named the team’s Most Valuable Player in each of his final two seasons after totaling 52 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. Off-the-field, Johnson served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for two years and was president of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship.

Johnson earned his bachelor’s degree from Lincoln in health science in May 2013.
