Jaylon Bester took over as Running Backs Coach in 2024. The Belleville, Illinois native enters his first season on the Frostburg State Football Coaching Staff, having spent the last year at the University of Indianapolis.
While at UIndy, the Greyhounds had the second-best running attack in the conference, running for 2,106 yards averaging five yards a carry. With Bester’s guidance, the rushing attack was led by First Team All- Conference back John Lewis. The junior back ran for 941 yards and 7 touchdowns, help leading the Greyhounds to a conference championship.
Bester started his coaching career as a Graduate Assistant at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls in the Spring of 2023.
Bester was a standout rusher for the Division I Miami RedHawks as a student-athlete. He played in a combined 33 games his first three seasons, before battling a number of injury issues in the later half of his collegiate career.
His best season came in 2019, earning Team Offensive MVP honors while leading Miami to a MAC title and an appearance in the LendingTree Bowl. Bester amassed 741 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on the season, finding the end zone at least once in 10 consecutive contests.
During his time at Miami, Bester earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and a minor degree in general business in 2021.
