Travis Wyant begins his second season on the Frostburg field hockey staff in 2017. He will work with newly appointed head coach Kaitlin Boerman.
In 2016, the Bobcats won five games and scored a season-high 11 goals against Notre Dame (Md.). Senior goalkeeper Jacqueline Gover made 83 saves and held a 2.38 goals against average. Wyant coached a pair of 2016 All-CAC selections in Gover and forward Taylor Bowen.
Wyant arrived at Frostburg after serving as a student assistant coach at the University of Mary Washington for two seasons. He gained experience in recruiting, game strategy and also post game breakdown and analysis. In his two years with UMW, the Eagles finished with a 28-10 record and ranked 10th in the nation in 2015.
Along with assisting with field hockey, Wyant also served as a student assistant for the Mary Washington women’ lacrosse team for the past two seasons. He developed game day and post-game graphics for UMW women’s lacrosse social media accounts as well as assisted with game day operations and statistics.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in english with a concentration in writing from Mary Washington in the spring of 2016 and plans to pursue a master’s degree while attending Frostburg State University. Â
