Marisa Sims begins her second season as a graduate assistant with the Frostburg field hockey team in 2018.
Last fall, Frostburg just missed out on the CAC Tournament, collected all five wins at Bobcat Stadium and finished seventh in the nation with 22 defensive saves. FSU also finished 21st in the country in saves per game (10.79).
Sims played on the Bridgewater field hockey team from 2014-16, earning All-ODAC Academic honors in all three seasons. She was also named to the ODAC All-Tournament Field Hockey Team in 2015.
She spent the summer of 2017 as an activity leader at Education First, where she supervised children ages 10-17 in various activities in the New York City area.
Sims graduated in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in communications, technology & culture and a minor in coaching from Bridgewater College. She also spent a year studying abroad at Thammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand.
In 2016, Sims served as an assistant coach at the Brookfield Swim Club. She taught the fundamentals of swimming to children and assisted in the supervision of coaches throughout the season.
She was an academic coach at Bridgewater in 2015. Sims helped students with notetaking and study tools to ensure all of their assignments were completed. Sims was a photographer for the Bridgewater athletic communications department from December 2013 to May 2014.
Sims will be pursuing a master’s degree from Frostburg State University.
