Note From Coach

Dear Prospective Student-Athletes,

Thank you for your interest in Frostburg State University and the Bobcat softball program.

As you may know, Frostburg State University is a dynamic and diverse state university located in the beautiful mountains of western Maryland, approximately two hours from Pittsburgh, Washington and Baltimore. Frostburg State offers a wide range of academic disciplines and has a reputation for its high standards and graduation rates.

Frostburg State competes at the NCAA Division III level and therefore does not offer athletic scholarships. However, we do have a strong financial aid program based on need. There are also numerous academic scholarships available for those who qualify. The admissions and financial aid offices will be able to provide you with further information about these various programs.

The Bobcat softball team competes as a member of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC). The program boasts one AMCC Championship and two runner-up showings in its eight-year history, and this past season three Frostburg State players were to named to the All-AMCC First Team. Additionally, FSU had two players selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Southern Softball All-Star Team this year.

Our excellent athletic facilities are among the best in the region. Our new softball complex was recently finished, complete with a press box, enclosed dugouts and electronic scoreboard. The Harold J. Cordts Physical Education Center houses spacious Bobcat Arena, three weight rooms and two auxiliary gyms, and the Bobcat softball program has access to all of these facilities for its fall, winter and in-season training.

Being a member of the FSU softball program requires a high level of commitment and dedication. We run a year-round program that includes a four-week fall practice/scrimmage season, winter conditioning and a 40-game traditional spring competition season.

Our goals each year are to win the AMCC Championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament. To reach those goals, we are seeking highly motivated student-athletes who love the game and are willing to push themselves to achieve their maximum potential - both on the field and in the classroom.

If you are interested in learning more about FSU softball, please complete the student-athlete questionnaire. Please feel free to contact me at 301/687-3242 or wlandrum@frostburg.edu with any further questions.

Sincerely,

Wes Landrum
