Note From Coach

Thank you for visiting the Frostburg State University's Men's and Women's Cross Country team web site. Frostburg State has a very rich tradition and history of high achievement in cross country and in the middle-distance and distance running events on the track. We look to continue this tradition by providing an opportunity for student-athletes who train hard and are dedicated to striving for excellence in running and in the classroom to join our program. Any student who makes a genuine commitment to becoming a serious athlete is welcome to compete with us.

Frostburg State's training environment is first-rate, including a newly renovated 400-meter all-weather track and an excellent physical education/athletic complex with weight training and physical conditioning facilities. Frostburg's mountainous setting is ideal for conducting the strength training necessary to become a successful distance runner. We also have access to several well-maintained off-road trails, including the C&O Canal Towpath in Cumberland, Md.

Our training philosophy is tailored toward individual runner's strengths, with an emphasis on strength and efficiency. The goal of the coaching staff is to guide each member of the team to achieve his or her very best. Our athletes train in a supportive environment, both academically and athletically. Our program features outstanding schedules that include competition in a variety of invitational meets and championship events.

Both team and individual qualifiers have represented Frostburg State in the NCAA Championships over the years. Six men and three women have earned All-America honors. We also have won several Mason-Dixon and AMCC conference championships. Our goal is to diligently strive to continue to carry on the strong tradition of the Frostburg State University cross country teams of the past. We continue to strive for elite status among the teams in the NCAA Division III Mideast Region and in the nation. One of the hallmarks of Bobcat distance running is the continual development and improvement of all of our athletes. This certainly has been the case with runners I have had the pleasure to work in the past, all of whom have made a genuine commitment to excellence.

Thanks again for visiting our web site. Please feel free to contact me for more information about our program. I look forward to hearing from you!
