DALLAS, Pa. – The Frostburg State Women's Wrestling began their second-ever season with a convincing 46-1 victory over Misericordia on Friday evening.

Each of the first four bouts were given to FSU by forfeit to earn an early cushion, as well as at 207 lbs. The first weight to have a match was at 131 lbs, where sophomore Brianna Holcomb was able to secure a 10-0 tech fall, which was equaled at 145 lbs by senior Shani Tyson.

The Bobcats also earned a pair of pinfall victories, one at 138 lbs by freshman Amber Hunter-Snyder and the next at 180 lbs by sophomore Maria Hiles. Rounding out the meet competition, junior Samira Stephens secured a narrow 5-2 decision win at 160 lbs to complete the sweep.

With the win, Frostburg begins the year 1-0, while Misericordia drops to 0-1. FSU has a quick turnaround as they will compete at the Warrior Open hosted by East Stroudsburg on Sunday, November 3, beginning at 9 a.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
