EDINBORO, Pa. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team pulled off a dramatic 4-3 victory over Edinboro on the road Friday night.
Â
Sophomores Julia Ramos and Mariaspa Kotsiou cruised to a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles, while top pairing freshman Alyssa Kush and sophomore Lorena Pintar came up 6-4 winners to earn FSU the doubles point in the match.
Â
Kush (7-5, 6-3) and Ramos (6-3, 6-1) both earned straight-set sweeps in their singles wins, putting the Bobcats a point away from taking the match. The Scots battled back and picked up results at Nos. 2, 5, and 6 to even the match at 3-3, leaving the three singles as the decider. Having won the first set 6-3, Pintar was pegged back 7-5 in the next set, but was able to secure a hard-fought 7-5 victory in the third and final set to earn herself and FSU the match win.
Â
With the result, the Bobcat women improve to 3-3 on the year, while Edinboro falls to 1-3. Frostburg returns to action Friday, March 3 for a road match against West Virginia State in the team's MEC opener. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
