FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State men's basketball team fell to Fairmont State at home on Saturday night by a final of 101-77.

Graduate Juston Bailey knocked down a three on an assist from senior Jamil Jones to make the early score 3-2 Bobcats after each team initially struggled from the field. Senior Agyei Edwards followed that up with two made foul shots, as both sides swapped baskets for the next few trips down the floor. Jones made a layup for a score of 13-11 in favor of Fairmont, who answered with a 9-2 run that stretched the lead to eight. Edwards would score for the Bobcats, then with just under seven minutes remaining in the half, Bailey was fouled driving to the basket, knocking down both free throws to cut the Falcon lead to 24-19. Fairmont again went on a scoring run, pouring in 18 to Frostburg's six in the final minutes of the half, taking the teams into the locker room with the visitors leading 42-25.
 
The Bobcats would come out in the second half and have success early getting to the line. Junior Jason Murphy, graduate Vincent Smalls and Jones would all make shots from the charity stripe in the first two minutes. Murphy would score in the paint to make the score 49-31, then Bailey would continue his good shooting night with a three to get the Falcon lead under the 20-point mark later on. Despite scoring spurts from the Bobcats, Fairmont's smallest lead of the second half would be 15 coming after a dunk from the big man Murphy. The Falcons would drain threes and layups throughout the half to end the game with a 101-77 victory.
 
The Bobcats were led by Bailey with 25 points, setting a new career-high, as he was joined in double figures by Edwards(19), Murphy(10) and junior Jaylin Albury(14). Murphy would be just short of a double-double with nine rebounds and added two blocks.  
 
With the loss, Frostburg falls to 5-13 on the year, while Fairmont improves to 14-5. The Bobcats return to the court Wednesday, January 25 when they play host to Charleston with a 7:30 PM tip-off. For more information please visit frostburgsports.com.
