Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Second Half Goals Not Enough in Men's Soccer Road Loss

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - The Frostburg State Men's Soccer team traveled to Notre Dame (Ohio) for a Sunday afternoon game, losing 4-2.

The Bobcats struggled to get their offense going against the Falcon defense in the first half of the game, as Notre Dame would take the first shots of the game, with sophomore Brennan Moore making a key save to the keep the game knotted at zero in the early minutes. The game continued to go back and forth, with both teams battling for possession but not creating many clear-cut chances. It would be Notre Dame to strike first, scoring their first goal of the afternoon with five minutes until the half for a 1-0 lead.

The Falcons wasted no time scoring their second and third goals of the game, in the 53rd and 54th minutes of the game right out of halftime. FSU got their first shot on goal in the game with junior Gage Adam firing just high of the goal frame. Moore would once again make a great save to keep the Falcon's lead at three, though NDC added their fourth and final goal of the match in the 65th minute. The Bobcats would begin to chip away at the deficit with a goal from sophomore Abdur-Rahman Neama in the 75th minute, making the score 4-1. Frostburg was awarded a penalty shot in the 88th minute, which senior Scott Fernandez would convert, making the score 4-2, though the lead was too much to overcome for the Notre Dame victory.

With the loss, Frostburg moves to 2-3-2 on the year, while the Falcons now sit at 5-2-1. Make sure to watch the Bobcats on Wednesday September 21 as they return to the road to take on Charleston (WV) for a 7pm kickoff. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
