Four Reach Double Figures as Men's Basketball Falls to Concord

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Basketball hosted Concord on Saturday afternoon, falling by a score of 93-82.

Junior Tairell Fletcher got the Bobcat offense started by knocking down a quick three-point shot less than a minute into the game. Senior Agyei Edwards and graduate Juston Bailey got in on the three-point action, with Edwards knocking down two from behind the arc and Bailey adding on another to give FSU an 18-15 lead.

Both teams continued to battle back and forth throughout the first half, leading to a tie game at 22-22 midway through, when junior Jason Murphy started his scoring by dropping in a layup and knocking down a shot in the paint to keep the Bobcat offense going, but CU found their shooting stroke, racing ahead to a 50-38 lead at the half.

Murphy picked up right where he left off in the first half, making the first basket of the second half for the Bobcats to make the score 52-40 Concord. Fletcher would go on to knock down three jump shots for the Bobcats, looking to cut away at the Mountain Lion lead, but the score would stand at 71-56 in favor of the Mountain Lions midway through the period.

The Bobcats would show fight late in the game, working to cut the Concord lead in half. Fletcher capitalized, scoring two fast-break layups off of back-to-back Mountain Lion turnovers, making the score 91-74 Concord. The Bobcats would be able to cut the CU lead down to 11 points with baskets from Murphy, Bailey, and Fletcher in the last 45 seconds of the game, though it was too little, too late, losing by a final score of 93-82.

Fletcher led the Bobcats with 24 points, followed by Bailey with 14 points, as Edwards and Murphy also reached double figures with 11 points each. Murphy was also the team's rebounding leader with nine rebounds and also adding a pair of blocks.

With the loss, Frostburg falls to 3-7 on the season, while the Mountain Lions improve to 7-3. The Bobcats are back in action on Tuesday, December 13 as they host Mansfield in Bobcat Arena for a 7PM tipoff. Information and updates will be posted at frostburgsports.com.
