Four Different Goal Scorers Lead Women's Soccer to Road Win

PHILIPPI, W. Va. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team defeated Alderson Broaddus on the road 4-1 Wednesday evening.

The Bobcats didn't take long to get things started with the first shot of the game coming from junior Toni Fiocco-Mizer in the first minute of action. FSU would continue to apply pressure to the Battlers and would finally break through in the 16th minute. Junior Lela Clark would pick up her third goal of the year on a nicely-placed left-footed shot, finding the bottom right corner of the net on an assist from sophomore Mackenzie Alonso.  Fiocco-Mizer had a great chance to double the lead a few minutes later, as she raced in one-on-one with the Alderson Broaddus keeper Olivia Kqira, but fired her effort straight into Kqira's midriff. The Bobcats battered AB's goal for the rest of the half, with 19 shots and seven corners to just one shot from the hosts, but weren't able to break through, keeping the lead at 1-0 into the half.

FSU wasted no time continuing their domincance in the second half, as they went down the field right from the whistle and scored goal 33 seconds in. Junior Hannah Thompson received the ball scored at the top of the box and fired a shot on her right foot into the left side of the goal for a 2-0 lead. The Bobcats would strike again in the 62nd minute, when Alonso pushed her goal streak to three games, driving the ball with her right foot into the back of the net off a feed from Fiocco-Mizer.

AB would find an opportunity late in the game, earning corner that bounced its way over the line to thwart Frostburg's shutout bid. Surrendering the clean sheet would spark the Bobcats to a final goal at the end of the game, as with five minutes remaining, junior Kayla Robinson blasted a shot from outside the 18 into the top right corner to end the scoring at 4-1 for the Bobcat win. FSU again led the half statistically, outshooting the Battlers 13-1.

The win moves Frostburg to 13-1-1 on the season and moves AB to 0-11-3 overall. The Bobcats return home to face Charleston (WV) on Saturday, October 22 at 5 PM. For more information on the Bobcats visit frostburgsports.com
