FROSTBURG, Md. - Frostburg State Field Hockey fell to Slippery Rock in their home opener for the 2021 season 4-1.
Slippery Rock got the scoring off and running by putting in a pair of goals in the 1st quarter to go up 2-0. Moving into the second quarter, SRU continued to pile on the goals adding two more to go up 4-0.Â
However, Frostburg State would find their second goal of the season when sophomore Ava Schmidt scored her first goal of the season to make the score 4-1 where it would stay.
In the loss, junior Madison Manalansan posted seven saves on 18 shots faced in a great outing for the Bobcats. The Bobcats took three shots in the contest, two of them coming from Schmidt and one from sophomore Ashlyn Cave.
FSU fell to 0-5 on the season with the loss and Slippery Rock improved to 2-2.. The next contest for the Bobcats is Sunday, September 19th at home vs Limestone at 12 pm. As always for more information visit frostburgsports.com.
