BALTIMORE, Md. – The Frostburg State field hockey team finished off their spring season with a loss at Johns Hopkins 4-0. The Bobcats played a full game with a planned additional period of overtime against the Blue Jays. Â

The Bobcats had momentum early in the game controlling most of the first quarter. FSU led the Blue Jays 4-1 on shots. Senior Sam Coffey had two chances on goal in the first quarter with the Hopkins goalie coming up big on both attempts. Â

The second quarter started off similar to the first with Coffey getting another chance at goal. Her attempt missed just wide. The second then swung in favor of the Blue Jays out shooting the Bobcats 6-1. The Bobcat defense blocked two of those shots and the rest were off target keeping the score tied at zeros. Â

The second half went in favor of the Blue Jays with them scoring two goals in the third and another in the fourth quarter. The Blue Jays again outshoot the Bobcats in both the third and fourth quarters 8-3 and then 7-2. Frostburg had chances to score on first-year Heidi Van Dyk shots in both quarters, but they were unable to capitalize.

The game finished at 3-0 Blue Jays in regulation and then the teams played an additional period where Hopkins picked up a fourth goal. Junior goalie Maggie Haupt finished the day eight saves for the Bobcats. Â
