FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team picked up a win in their last game on the season defeating the Alderson Broaddus Battlers by a final score of 2-0. The Bobcats were led by junior Alexis Pate with two goals off four shots on target.

The win moves the Bobcats to 6-1-1 on the season while, the Battlers fall to 0-6-2.

It didn't take long for Frostburg to get on the scoreboard as Pate netted the first goal of the game off an assist from junior Mina Del Borrello. Pate took a shot three minutes later forcing the Battler goalkeeper to make a save. Nine minutes into the game, Del Borrello hit a shot which was turned away to keep the Frostburg lead at 1-0.

Halfway through the first half, The Bobcats were awarded a corner kick that was taken by first-year Caroline Burton who drove in a cross that connected with junior Abbey Dennis for a header that ended in a save by the hosts. With five minutes to go in the first half, first-year Kayla Robinson hit a shot that was turned away to keep the score at 1-0 going into halftime.

Again, it didn't take long for Frostburg to get in the scoring column to open the half as Pate netted a goal off an assist from first-year Toni Fiocco-Mizer to give the Bobcats a two goal cushion with just under 35 minutes to play.

With ten minutes left in the game, first-year Hannah Thompson hit a shot that nailed the post. A minute later, junior Heather Finney had a shot turned away by the post keeping the game at 2-0 with the Bobcats on top. With just over three minutes to go, the Battlers shot the ball on target which had to be saved by sophomore Taylor Longworth to keep Frostburg up 2-0 and give the Bobcats the road win.

Frostburg will host an MEC semi-final game next Thursday, April 22 against the winner of the 3/6 seed matchup in the first round of the tournament. Kick-off time is TBD. For more information, visit frostburgsports.com.
