Bobcats Drop Final Game of Season to Fairmont State

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State volleyball team fell at home in the final game of the season, losing to the Fairmont State Falcons. The Bobcats lost in four sets by scores of 23-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-21. Frostburg was led by first-year Beverly Braun with 14 kills and 10 digs.
 
The loss puts Frostburg at 0-10 on the season, while the Falcons move to 8-2.
 
Frostburg took control of the first set, jumping out to a 7-1 lead. The Falcons responded by closing the scoring deficit to one at 9-8. The Bobcats went up 18-13 before Fairmont again closed the scoring gap to a one-point set at 20-19. Frostburg held on to win the set 25-23.
 
The Falcons took control of the second set, going up 8-2. Frostburg brought the score to within seven at 17-10. Fairmont finished out the set winning 25-13.
 
Frostburg led the third set 4-1 before the Falcons came within one at 5-4. The Bobcats tied the game at 6-6 before taking a 10-8 lead later in the set. The Bobcats continued to hold the lead at 16-13. Fairmont fought back to take the lead at 21-20 before controlling the rest to win 25-21.
 
In the fourth set on the night, Frostburg took a 2-0 lead early on. After falling behind, Frostburg tied the game at 6-6. After the Falcons captured the lead, the Bobcats cut the score to within one at 10-9. Later in the set, the Bobcats came within two points at 19-17. Fairmont went on to win the set 25-21.  
 
Sophomore Jackie Sterenberg finished the night with nine kills and five digs, while first-year Laken Michael earned six kills with three blocks.
