FROSTBURG, Md. –The Frostburg State Baseball dropped both ends of a double header against Charleston University this afternoon. The Bobcats fell 10-3 in the first game and 6-0 in the second. This moves the Bobcats to 3-9 on the year and makes the Golden Eagles 11-3.
The opening game for the Bobcats was started by junior Josh Colliflower whom started off the game by working out of a bases loaded no out jam with a strikeout and a double play. In the bottom of the second FSU was able to put the game's first run on the board when junior Andrew Smith knocked in first-year Justin Jimenez on a sacrifice fly.
The game stayed even until Charleston was able to chase Colliflower off the mound and score six runs during the fourth inning. The Golden Eagles tacked on two more runs in the fifth now making the score 8-1. The Bobcats tried to respond in the fifth when junior Josh Netterville led off with a single and was eventually knocked in on a RBI single from senior Mitch Fyffe. Again in the bottom of the seventh Netterville reached base and after working himself to third was knocked in on a groundball double play from Fyffe. The opening game ended with a final score of 11-3.
First-year Hayden Ford took the ball for the Bobcats in the second game. After giving up a well hit double to open the game Ford retired the next three batters to end the first. The Golden Eagles were able to put a run on the board in the second to go up 1-0. Charleston added to that lead in the third scoring four more runs.
The Bobcats tried to get things going in the forth with a leadoff single from junior Bryce Jackson. Jackson advanced to second on a ball the catcher had to knock down to keep from getting past. Fyffe drew a walk to later in the inning but bother were stranded on the base path. Senior Josh Clegg saw an inning of relief where he was able to end the Golden Eagles scoring run. The Bobcats failed to get anything going in the final innings of the game with finish being 6-0 Charleston.
