FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team won its second consecutive game on Wednesday afternoon, taking down Alderson Broaddus by a score of 16-3. The win improves the Bobcats' record to 2-2 on the season.
Sophomore Cammie Schniedwind got the scoring started just over three minutes into the match, ripping one past Alderson Broaddus goalkeeper Taylor Young to give Frostburg the 1-0 lead. Senior Lindsay Kohlmann would add another goal two minutes later off an assist from sophomore Lilly Stephens to make it 2-0 FSU. First-year Erin Bryce would score less than a minute later to give Frostburg an early 3-0 advantage.
Kohlmann would add her second goal of the first half with just over 17 minutes remaining in the half, as her unassisted goal make it 5-0 Frostburg. After a goal from first-year Anna Kearney made it 6-0, senior Summer Cavey came on and scored for the first time on the day, giving Frostburg a 7-0 lead.
First-year goalkeeper Whitney Crosby got the start in the cage for the Bobcats, making four first half saves. The best of which was off a free-position attempt for AB with just under 11 minutes left in the half, as she snared a head-high shot to keep AB off the board.
Kohlmann scored her third goal of the game early in the second half, as she converted on her free position attempt to give Frostburg a 12-1 lead. After an AB goal made it a 12-2 game, Bryce would notch her third goal of the game with a little under 19 minutes remaining in the game to make it a 13-2 Bobcat lead.
Frostburg would tack on three more goals late in the game, with junior Paige Bittner, Kearney and Schniedwind scored each of the goals to make it 16-3 Bobcats.
Kohlmann, Bryce and Schniedwind all recorded three goals on the game, with Stephens and Kearney each tallying a pair of goals. Kohlmann also led the Bobcats in draw controls with five, while junior Mackenzie Cramer and senior Wynnanne Walters each recorded three ground balls.
