Men's Basketball Loses at Home to Golden Eagles

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Basketball team hosted Charleston (WV) on Saturday afternoon, losing by a final score of 103-71.

The game opened with graduate Jihar Williams scoring a basket in the paint for the early Bobcat lead. In a fast-paced half, both teams traded baskets, with the Golden Eagles scoring most of their points in the paint. Junior Agyei Edwards hit a corner three to make the score 9-8 Charleston at the 16:27 mark. After UCWV pushed to a ten-point lead, Williams had a steal that led to a breakaway dunk and then followed it up with another basket on the next trip down the floor. Edwards pulled the Bobcats back within seven, hitting a floater from a tough angle on the baseline. The last points of the half came when junior Torrin Stephens found sophomore Jaylon Johnson wide open for a three-point make, as the Bobcats went into half down 42-31.

Down 11 to start the second half, the Bobcats had an uphill battle ahead of them. Junior Justin Bailey hit an open three for FSU, their first points of the half. UCWV then went on a 12-point run until a three from Bartley made the score 56-37. Stephens got an offensive rebound and put-back to get the lead under 20 with 13:18 left in the game. The Golden Eagles then made another push to stretch the lead to 23 points. Stephens made a late bucket to make the final score 103-71 Golden Eagles.

The Bobcats move to 2-7 on the year, while Charleston improves to 7-1. Frostburg is back in action Wednesday, December 8 to face Glenville State, with a tip time of 7:30 p.m. For information and updates stay tuned at frostburgsports.com.
