BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- The University of Charleston leads the race for the 2021-22 Mountain East Conference Commissioner's Cup after the completion of the fall semester.
The Golden Eagles won titles in men's and women's cross country and men's golf, and also won the MEC Tournament in men's soccer. UC's all-sports rating was .904 after the fall semester.
Davis & Elkins stands in second place with a rating of .702 on the strength of a regular season title in men's soccer. Frostburg State is in third with a rating of .631 after sharing the conference championship in football and winning a divisional title in women's soccer. Concord rounded out the top four with a rating of .607 after taking the MEC South Division title in women's soccer and then the MEC Tournament in that sport, and also posting top-three finishes in men's and women's cross country.
The standings are compiled utilizing an "all-sports rating." This rating is determined by a formula that awards points to a school for its regular season finish equal to the number of teams per sport sponsored by the MEC, and then divided by the number of sports offered by the institution. The final rating is a percentage of points acquired against the number of points available
(average percentile finish in the standings of each sport sponsored by an institution).
