FROSTBURG, Md.- The Frostburg State field hockey team took on the No. 7-ranked Kutztown Golden Bears in a defensive 2-0 loss on Friday evening in Bobcat Stadium.

The game started out with Kutztown having most of the possession and Frostburg pulling out all the stops defensively until the Golden Bears took the lead with a goal from Breann Craley coming in the 13th minute of the first quarter.

Periods two through four would show some powerful defense coming from junior defender Emily Hughes and freshman midfielder Ava Waddell. Ultimately, the Golden Bears would answer in the last few minutes of the fourth quarter with a goal from Rachel Dusman to put FSU away 2-0.

Junior forward Taylor Henderson had the Bobcats' lone shot on goal. Junior goalkeeper Madison Manalansan had herself an impressive day with 11 saves on 34 shots faced.

With the loss, Frostburg falls to 1-8 while the seventh-ranked Golden Bears rise to 7-1 on the season. FSU's next game will be on Sunday, October 3 at 12:30 PM, as they take on the Huskies of Bloomsburg University. For more information and updates, visit
