CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Frostburg State softball team wrapped up its weekend at the Queens Tournament with a 1-3 record after posting a 3-2 win over Lees-McRae before losing to the hosts Queens 4-2, Sunday.

The Sunday split puts the Bobcats at 5-7 overall this season.

Game One:
In the first game of the day, Lees-McRae tied the game 2-2 in the sixth inning before Frostburg came back to earn the win in the eighth inning 3-2.

Frostburg scored the first run of the game in the third inning after senior Claire Hanlon singled to left field allowing junior Kat Treff to score. Â

FSU added to its 1-0 lead in the fifth inning when first-year Brianna Powell doubled to left center field driving in Hanlon to take a 2-0 lead.

After Lees-McRae scored two runs in the sixth inning to tie the game, sophomore Kennadie Batchelor's walk-off double to left field scored Powell earning the FSU win 3-2.

First-year Shawna Leonard went the distance for Frostburg pitching all eight innings and allowing two runs with eight strikeouts. Hanlon recorded a game high three hits in the game for Frostburg.

Game Two:
Frostburg dropped its last game of the weekend to Queens 4-2.

The Bobcats scored first in the third inning when sophomore Amber Keene singled to left field allowing Treff to score. Â Â

Queens turned around to take the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Grace Wesoly hit a two run homer to left center field.

Frostburg tied the game at 2-2 in the sixth inning when sophomore Ava Gnibus drew a bases loaded walk allowing junior Aliyah Ramey to score. Queens again answered with an RBI double from Jordan Hunt to score two runs to take the lead for good.

Junior Emily Talbert started in the circle for the Bobcats pitching 3.1 innings allowing two runs with five strikeouts. Leonard came in to pitch 2.2 innings allowing two runs with four strikeouts. Hanlon led Frostburg batters with two hits in the game.

The Bobcats are back in action next Saturday as it opens conference play against Davis & Elkins at 12:00 p.m.
