Bobcats Fall Short in Conference Matchup

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio,- The Frostburg State men's basketball team fell short in a conference matchup against the Notre Dame Falcons with a final score of  77-68 on Saturday afternoon. Frostburg now falls to 10-14 overall and 7-11 in conference play while Notre Dame moves to 9-15 overall and 7-11 in Mountain East play.
 
The first half ended deadlocked at 31. Through the first eight minutes of the game there was an even 9-9 run with points contributed by seniors Demetrich Williams and Daniel Alexander, sophomore Maurice Carroll, and junior Desmond Rene for a score of 9-9. The remainder of the half ended in a parallel 22-22 run where junior Joe Adedayo poured in 10 of those points. The lead changed over a dozen times bringing the Bobcats to the eventual halftime score of 31-31.
 
The second half was slightly more competitive as Frostburg went on a 12-11 run with four of those points from Alexander. Early in the half the Falcons, pulled away when they tallied 12 more points to bring the score to 54-47. Frostburg went on to close the gap in the latter portion of the half bringing the score 58-55. The scoring for Frostburg increased thanks to five points from senior Terry Kenner and three from Alexander. Notre Dame pulled away with an 11-8 run in four minutes as the half was winding down bringing the Falcons lead to nine points at 69-60. The half ended with a layup from graduate student Scott Kerr Jr. and Kenner, and a jumper from Rene.
 
The Bobcats outshot the Falcons from three at 31.3% compared to 19.0%. Kenner led Frostburg with 18 points while Alexander and Adedayo both tallied 12 points. Adedayo also registered seven rebounds on the afternoon.
 
Frostburg returns to action on Wednesday when the Bobcats host West Liberty for a conference matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
